Expectant parents without health insurance still have many options for prenatal care.

Financing a pregnancy is much easier when the parents are properly insured. But uninsured moms and dads still have many options for free and low cost health care.
The government - Federal government offers free prenatal care through the Medicaid program. But not all parents will qualify. At a minimum, the expectant parent's income will need to be below government guidelines
Planned Parenthood - Many communities offer free or low cost family health services through "Planned Parenthood" health centers. Scan the yellow page sections for Clinics, Health Care Centers or Family Planning. If unable to locate a Planned Parenthood center, call city hall.
Your local hospital - Many hospitals offer free or low cost prenatal care to those in need while being pregnant without insurance. Contact your hospital for details. If help is not available, ask the hospital rep for references on low cost or no cost prenatal care.
Religious institutions - Many faith-based religious organizations will arrange for no cost or low cost health care. Place a call to the large churches, synagogues, temples or mosques in your area.
The WIC Program - The federal government has a special program to ensure pregnant and nursing women have access to nutritious food. An acronym for "Women, Infants and Children", the WIC program can be reached by calling (703) 305-2746.
The Emergency Room - As a last case scenario, drop into your hospital's emergency room once you've gone into labor. Federal and state laws require emergency rooms to provide care for those in need, regardless of their ability to pay.
Those pregnant with no health insurance need not worry. There are many viable options for no cost or low cost prenatal care.
