A pregnancy belly painting is an inexpensive and easy project which yields a lifetime of memories. Once the belly is painted, take plenty of pictures!
The pregnancy activity:
Family or friends gather and use mom's pregnant belly as a palette. Images, messages or abstract art are painted onto mom's belly. A base coat of paint is optional. Pictures can be taken and mom's belly painting can be enjoyed for years to come.
Preparation:
You'll only need paints, paint brushes and an old clothes for mom to wear. A drop cloth for mom to sit on is optional. Others may opt to do the painting outdoors to avoid a household mess.
Check paint types to ensure a paint can be applied to human skin. Avoid all oil based paints. Many prefer face paints as they easily wash off in the shower.
Variations:
Is your pregnancy during a special time of year? If during the fall, paint a stomach up like a pumpkin. A holiday painting can take the form of a Christmas tree ornament. If during Easter, paint a belly like an Easter egg.
YeahBaby.com thoughts:
Part of the fun can be discussing the design prior to the painting. Those with a video camera can record the entire event on film!
